The GasGas MXC Trail 2025 is a Spanish-built carbon trail eMTB powered by the SRAM Eagle Powertrain motor and a 630 Wh battery, distinguishing itself in the eMTB market by being one of only a handful of bikes using SRAM's own integrated motor system. Headline numbers: 160 mm of fork travel, 140 mm at the rear, 90 Nm of motor torque, a 24.4 kg claimed weight, a 64.5 degree head angle and reach progression 445 mm on S, 470 mm on M and 495 mm on L with size-tuned chainstays 442 mm, 445 mm and 450 mm. Production status: discontinued. The GasGas eMTB venture was a short-lived collaboration between Spanish motorcycle brand GasGas and SRAM. No curated rider quotes are yet on file for this bike on the forum.

Drive system and range. The SRAM Eagle Powertrain motor is SRAM's first foray into mid-drive systems, delivering 90 Nm of torque, 250 W nominal and a manufacturer-claimed 680 W peak from a 2.98 kg unit. The Eagle Powertrain is closely tied to SRAM's AXS Transmission ecosystem, with the standout feature being integrated AutoShift behaviour: the motor can autonomously shift the rear derailleur based on power output and cadence. The 630 Wh removable Eagle Powertrain battery is class-competitive at 24.4 kg for a 160/140 mm trail chassis. Real-world range on Eagle Powertrain at 630 Wh in trail use typically lands 35 to 55 km depending on assist and rider weight. The system uses SRAM AXS Transmission integration as a core feature, which limits aftermarket drivetrain flexibility.

Geometry and handling. A 64.5 degree head angle is squarely modern trail-leaning enduro, in line with mainstream rivals. Reach steps clean 445 mm on S, 470 mm on M, 495 mm on L with the size-tuned chainstay progression 442 to 450 mm being a genuine win for fit across the three-size matrix. Wheelbase 1228 to 1299 mm. With 160 mm of fork and 140 mm of rear travel, the MXC Trail is positioned as an aggressive trail bike rather than enduro: the shorter rear travel and 64.5 degree head angle pitch the bike toward fast, technical trail rather than all-out descents.

Build and value. GasGas published the MXC Trail at £6899 retail at the time, 24.4 kg, for the spec on file. At this price the standout build feature is the SRAM Eagle Powertrain motor and the SRAM AXS Transmission integration. Component spec at this £6899 tier would typically include a Fox Performance or RockShox Lyrik-class fork, Fox Float X or RockShox Super Deluxe shock, SRAM Code or Maven brakes and full SRAM Eagle T-Type AXS Transmission. The premium reflects the niche SRAM Powertrain pairing rather than chassis-only value.

Verdict. The GasGas MXC Trail 2025 is a discontinued, niche pick. Strengths are real. The SRAM Eagle Powertrain motor brings deep AXS Transmission integration and AutoShift capability that no rival has matched, with 90 Nm of torque and 680 W of peak power that is competitive with mainstream Bosch and Shimano. The carbon chassis with 160/140 mm of travel, 64.5 degree head angle and size-tuned chainstays (442/445/450 mm) is genuinely modern. The 630 Wh removable battery is competitive at the weight bracket. The honest caveats are significant. Production status is discontinued: GasGas-branded eMTBs are no longer being made and parts and warranty support are uncertain. The SRAM Eagle Powertrain motor itself has a small dealer footprint compared to Bosch or Shimano: most general bike shops will not have specialist service tools or experience for the platform. The bike's tight integration with SRAM AXS Transmission means downgrading to a mechanical drivetrain is not possible without significant compromise. The three-size range (S, M, L) limits fit for shorter and taller riders. And the £6899 retail price was high for a discontinued platform: second-hand pricing should reflect the post-discontinuation reality. The MXC Trail suits the buyer who finds a strongly discounted second-hand example and wants a modern carbon trail chassis with the unique SRAM AXS Transmission integration and AutoShift capability, and is happy to live with discontinued-product support and SRAM-only drivetrain compatibility. Riders prioritising broad motor support, mainstream warranty backstops or wider size ranges should look at a Specialized Levo Comp, Cube Stereo Hybrid 140, Cannondale Moterra Neo or Trek Rail.
